Raised by AI? +
Challenging Algorithms

As algorithmic systems shape how we navigate the world—and AI shapes how the next generation grows up—a shared design challenge emerges: how do we build for human agency? By challenging opaque systems and examining what it means to be raised alongside AI, we move beyond critique toward designing technologies and environments that keep humans firmly in the loop.

Raised by AI?  Tuesday, April 28
Every generation is shaped by the technologies of its time. This generation is the first to grow up with AI as a constant presence—in their classrooms, homes, and pockets. What does that mean for who they become, and how do we ensure the best outcomes? The Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) program at the MIT Media Lab explores these questions—examining what it means to come of age in the age of AI and how AI might also elevate us.

Challenging Algorithms  Wednesday, April 29 –Thursday, April 30
We examine theories of algorithmic auditing, transparency, and accountable AI—considering how opaque systems influence decisions and how they can be redesigned to restore visibility, contestability, and meaningful human control in the digital infrastructures that shape everyday life. We also ask what it takes to make these systems transparent, accountable, and human-centered at scale—ensuring decisions remain understandable, contestable, and aligned with public interest and human values.

Join us this spring for three days of exploration, experimentation, and connection at the Spring Member Event 2026. Through interactive sessions, open lab experiences, and collaborative discussions, members gain exclusive access to research in motion.
