Jessica Rosenworcel discusses how MIT Media Lab and WHx are exploring new technologies to close long-standing gaps in women’s health.

At the MIT Media Lab, Jessica Rosenworcel is focused on how emerging technologies can improve access, diagnosis, and outcomes in women’s health. She pointed to long-standing inequities in research and care, noting that women have historically been underrepresented in clinical studies and received only a fraction of health research funding.

Through work connected to WHx, Rosenworcel highlighted the promise of wireless sensors, AI-driven diagnostics, and personalized monitoring to help detect conditions earlier and deliver more tailored care. She also pointed to Media Lab projects ranging from wearable ultrasound tools to affective computing and next-generation prosthetics.

While many of these technologies are still in early stages, Rosenworcel emphasized that the opportunity is real: by combining innovation, clinical adoption, and reimbursement support, new tools could help close critical gaps in women’s health.
