As AI advances, will people advance as well?
Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) is a multi-faculty research program that investigates the human experience of pervasive AI with the goal of designing human-AI interactions that promote human flourishing. Our work consists of three pillars as we:
- Investigate how AI impacts human cognition, emotion, social interaction
- Invent novel AI systems, tools, methods, and techniques that enable people to thrive and
- Inspire industry as well as policymakers to translate research into real-world impact
We collaborate closely with researchers, AI developers, nonprofits and policymakers to ensure our findings are translated into AI deployments and regulation that benefit humanity.
Our work is guided by the belief that AI is not just an engineering challenge, but primarily a human design problem. For AI to live up to its lofty expectations and benefit humankind, it is important that we go beyond optimizing AI itself (e.g. by making it more accurate), but that we also understand how people respond to interaction with AI and how we best design that interaction for the flourishing of people.
