- City Science
Leticia Izquierdo is a PhD candidate at the MIT Media Lab, investigating the intersection of urban technology and human behavior. She designs AI systems that quantify how people experience the built environment, transforming subjective experience into actionable city-scale data.
Trained in architecture and computational design at UPM, Leticia develops generative planning tools (Immersive Scope) and agent-based models (ABM Mobility) to quantify urban experience. From safety metrics for women (Women's Safety and Mobility) to cognitive interaction studies in Shanghai (Environmental Psycology and Speculative Design), her work translates environmental psychology into computational urban intelligence.
Leticia’s work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale (Spanish Pavilion) and the Boston Museum of Science (Community Carbon Impact). Her trajectory spans from leading urban decarbonization strategies with EIT Climate to autonomous mobility integration in Guiyang, China. Her interdisciplinary experience includes research for the UNESCO-UN Women Chair on Gender and Technology and a professional tenure at the Vastu Shilpa Foundation in India.
